Paraphrased Letter

Dear Sirs,

I thought I lost this picture. I found it 03/28/00. I hope it isn't too late to submit it for the April contest.

This is my first ATV, a 1999 Honda 400 Foreman, which is obvious looking at the picture.

After a day of riding, I figured I could wash of my quad by talking a nice leisurely ride down stream. Everything was fine until the river floor dropped from under me. It tipped me sideways, throwing me off the quad. The ATV floated down stream until until I caught up to it. I tried to push it to shore. I managed to get the rear up on dry land.

Then I took my helmet off and put it on the handle bar. It fell off, sunk and floated down river. I found it a month later when the river dried out.

You would think I would be more concerned about the quad. But, this was my brother's helmet, who had told me not to use it (brother is 6'4" 285 lb.).

Well, everything turned out OK. My friend lifted my machine out of the river with his farm tractor, we took immediate action and dropped the oil and flushed the engine with kerosene 5 or 6 times. The quad is running fine.

On the other hand, my brother looked at this a little differently. He gave me a few lumps. But when he saw this picture, he pissed his pants. I wish he had seen the picture before he lumped me up.

I learned some valuable lessons from this:
1) Don't drive down river. I drive across it, if I need to get to the other side.
2) Use a power washer or hose to clean the quad.
3) If you have a brother bigger than you, don't borrow his stuff!!!!!

Sincerely,

(signed)
